Rev. Fr. Georgee John

“But I will enter your house by the abundance of your loving devotion, in reverence i will bow down towards your holy temple (Psalms 5:7)”

The Morth Smooni Jacobite Syriac Church, Ghala, Muscat, is renowned as the “Great Miracle in the Desert.” For 13 years, this church has been a beacon of faith, uniting its members as a parish under the patronage of Morth Smooni. Six years have passed since the church’s construction was completed, and worship services commenced.

We owe a debt of gratitude to Commander Dr. Thomas Alexander, who spearheaded the construction and execution of the church. It was a blessed moment in the church’s history when His Holiness the Patriarch visited and performed the Muron Sacrament, choosing our church as the venue for the Synod. The sacred relics of Morth Smooni and Manjanikkara Bava were installed by HG Mor Osthathios Ishaq and HG Mor Militios Yuhanon, respectively. Additionally, the parish laid the foundation stone for the Cross Shrine in the name of Saint Geevarghese Mar Gregorios

Our church is proud to have around 250 active parishioners who come together for the betterment of the church. Through the intercession of Mother Morth Smooni, numerous miracles have occurred, transforming the lives of our parishioners. The parish has various organizations, including the Vanitha Samajam, Youth Association, and Sunday School, which work together to uplift and grow the church.

Holy Qurbana held on every Tuesday & Friday and the Retreat sessions are held on every second Saturday, and Bible study classes for the Vanitha Samajam take place on every second Friday. I express my heartfelt gratitude to Almighty God for the blessings bestowed upon our parish. As the Psalmist says, “Oh God, you provided us with more than we could ever have imagined.” I pray that Almighty God’s boundless mercy and love will endure forever, guiding and protecting our parish.
